The project proposes to take advantage of the existing topography and context so as to make the site permeable and organize connections between neighborhoods. The memory of the industrial past is transcribed into a rational grid extending over the entire site. This offers a dense network of routes linking the area to its surroundings. The existing road network is taken up and extended by the grid. It creates a new porosity within the plot and extends beyond, including the two suggested underpasses. The difference in level between the site of the Cardinal plateau and the Foundry of the Glâne avenues allows the creation of a second plate extending over the roofs: the green park. This cut variation offers a multitude of public, semi-public or private spaces sometimes as terraces with views, sometimes in urban squares or tree-lined parks.

The blue FACTORY Technology Park complements the educational and research network poles of the city. The new campus is designed as a city within a city. On a smaller scale it takes on concepts of diversity and connectivity of the university town of Freiburg. In addition to scientific offices and laboratories, the new district has a programmatic mix in each development phase. Public events take place in the historic buildings of the brewery and act as catalysts. Local services necessary for life in the neighborhood occupy the ground floors and enliven the public space. The site is entirely pedestrian and connects to the University through its sustainable transport axes.
